Tenura Blog
Tenura Visits Naidex, Birmingham, and AOTA, Indianapolis!!
Well in to the new year, i’ve finally got round to writing a new blog post ( we were supposed to get a WordPress blog integrated in to the site, but that didn’t happen due to one factor, if you guess what it is, i’ll send you a bottle opener! ), and beings as we’ve been busy recently, I thought I would tell you about it.
Last week, we attended the AOTA ( American Occupation Therapy Association ) Expo and Conference in Indianapolis, USA.This ran from the 26th until the 29th of April, where one of our Sales Managers had a booth seperate to our now exclusive US distributors of Tenura, Maddak inc, albeit cross-promoting products to increase event coverage. This also coincided with our launch of Tenura USA, an info/ecommerce portal site targeted towards the US market, with Maddak taking all orders and enquiries.
Last week, we where at the NEC in Birmingham exhibiting at the Naidex NationalExhibition, running from the 1st of May through until the 3rd. Both expos generated a lot of interest for us, and we hope to have our products stocked in many more retailers soon, increasing brand awareness throughout the internet particularly.
We do plan, and are arranging to visit more expos this year, with Glasgow being one city that has been mentioned. That may just have to wait for another post though.
Many thanks to Kathleen at Maddak for helping us out at the AOTA festival, and I hope those that we did meet at both expos will be in touch soon.
If you saw us at either one, please let us know!!
Using Arthritis Aids with Sharp Kitchen Utensils
Arthritis is a condition that affects more than 10 million people in the UK. It is usually a condition that the older generation is diagnosed with. Arthritis causes loss of grip strength in many people as well as inflammation in joints. This pain can make life difficult especially when it comes to small repetitive movements such as when you use sharp kitchen utensils for food preparation.
The use of knives in the kitchen is a risky business anyway, a lack of concentration could mean an injury, but with arthritis, the risk of injury is greater. That is why using daily living aids can be beneficial. For example, when using a Tenura anti-slip mat under a chopping board, the anti-slip mat stops unwanted movement like the chopping board slipping.
Tenura anti-slip grip strips are the perfect arthritis aid for this particular job, allowing you to enhance your grip on the knife handle. By using Tenura anti-slip grip strips, you can build up the handle to a more manageable size that your hand feels comfortable with, relieving stress in the joints and allowing them to move as freely as possible whilst maintaining control of the knife. Using Tenura anti-slip grip strips will increase confidence and allow you to perform daily tasks freely without the struggle.
At home, I am sure you have a utensil draw. If you cut to shape Tenura anti-slip roll and place it in the draw you can stop the unwanted movement of utensils as you open/close the draw but also as you go to pick up the utensil. The utensils remain in place due to the non-slip properties of Tenura silicone anti-slip roll. Someone with arthritis may feel pain when straining to reach a utensil but if the utensils are held in place they can be much easier to access.
Take a look at our range of arthritis aids and see which could work well for you in your daily activities.

Tenura: Non Slip Fabric
Our non-slip fabric is one of our most popular daily living aids, and with its versatility, it’s no surprise.
Tenura non-slip fabric is made of non-slip foam, bonded onto a polyester mesh, which gives it great non-slip qualities on both sides. The polyester mesh means that the non-slip material is waterproof, which opens up the uses of the fabric and makes it easy to clean. The non-slip fabric does not stretch due to its reinforced skeleton. It can be cut down to any shape and size to suit any object or surface. The anti-slip fabric comes in three colours (black, white and beige).
Tenura Non-slip Fabric Under A Keyboard
At Tenura we use it for all sorts of applications in the office. Many members of staff have the non-slip fabric under their keyboards to stop unwanted movement. The non-slip fabric acts as a rest for wrists as it is a comfortable cushion, which is very welcome after days typing, like blog posting days. Many of us spend a lot of time on computers and Tenura non-slip fabric can be beneficial to all.
Tenura Non-slip Fabric As Carpet/Rug Underlay
Carpet underlay is another excellent use for Tenura anti-slip fabric. Cut down the fabric and place it on the floor. Cover the fabric with the carpet. The anti-slip fabric keeps the rug in place and stops unwanted movement. For those with wooden floors, carpets/rugs with no non-slip fabric underneath can slip from under your feet. A fall to those who are elderly or disabled can have serious repercussions, so it is vital to keep them safe.
Other Tenura Non-slip Fabric Applications
We have also seen the Tenura non-slip fabric being used in the following applications:
- Lining for draws, shelves and trays
- On sofas to keep cushions in place
- DIY-To keep your tools in position
- DIY-When sanding which keeps the object secure and minimizes movement
- Holds objects firm on surfaces that are not horizontal and/or are subject to motion
Buy a roll of Tenura non-slip fabric today and secure your home or the home of a loved one. Please get in touch and let us know what innovative things you have used the non-slip fabric for and don’t forget to send us some pictures via our social media channels; Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Tenuras Visit to Rehacare!
Yesterday, was an incredibly long day, but a fruitful one. After jetting off from Manchester Airport, we arrived in Düsseldorf ready for the day. After a quick fuel up, we arrived at Rehacare ready to engage and converse with other companies.
Germany seems to be the central hub for all these things with quotes of ‘X and Y should be done the German way!’, a saying that I agree with! The event was absolutely astonishing, with every stand easy to find.
We spoke with many companies, and their staff, and even the management involved were friendly, interesting, and most of all, gave advice and polite criticism or words of encouragement about our daily living aids where needed.
Some of the companies we spoke to were:
Vitility Care/McCALL Inter Trade B.V
It was great meeting you all, and we look forward to speaking to you soon, and possibly seeing you at some point!
After the event, we wound up making our way to the Uerige Micro Brewery and had some of their own beer, which was delicious, and made our way to a local Irish Pub after that for a beer, pretzels and to watch some Golf while we waited for our train back to the airport.
Many, many thanks to Rehacare for putting on such an amazing event, and thanks to Düsseldorf for the warm hospitality, we look forward to returning!
Tenura will be Visiting: Rehacare and Naidex South!
Tenura reprasentatives Mathew and Gerard will be visiting Rehacare in Düsseldorf, Germany, tomorrow, and Mathew will be visiting Naidex South on October the 19th.
They are looking forward to meeting other company figures, as well as informing people about what we do.
Everyone we meet will be getting mentioned on this blog upon their return!

Introducing Tenura
Tenura is more than a range of products. Tenura aims to become a system within a person's lifestyle to help with impairments to strength or grip.
Tenura anti-slip daily living aids provide additional grip and can be used by everyone. Designed specifically to help the elderly and disabled, but can be used by anyone to help maintain independent living.
Our main range of daily living aids uses high-quality, injection-moulded silicone. The silicone is an efficient material in terms of grip and comfort, and this means that, unlike other manufacturers, our products are free from toxic substances and phthalate plasticisers.
Tenura daily living aids are perfect in all environments, including domestic and clinical use. They can be used universally as the antimicrobial properties of the silicone prevent fungi and bacteria from harbouring. This is paramount for those who are elderly and disabled as they are more susceptible to disease. In a clinical environment, it is important to prevent the spread of diseases, and Tenura daily living aids can help maintain cleanliness.
From jar openers to anti-slip coaster and mats, the whole silicone Tenura daily living aid range is exceptionally durable, dishwasher safe (withstanding temperatures of 250°C), has hygienic, anti-microbial benefits and non-slip properties. The beneficial properties of Tenura daily living aids apply well to all environments. For instance, if you need additional grip when opening a bottle, the silicone bottle opener provides just that. The anti-slip properties are useful when it comes to the table mats and floor mats, as objects placed on them, such as a mug of hot coffee will be held firmly in place and if knocked, will remain standing. This helps our customers to avoid spillages, breakages and even injury.
Our additional products to the main range, such as non-slip fabric, Tenura Extreme adhesive mats and our bath and shower stickers, are becoming welcome additions in people’s homes. Tenura daily living aids are versatile in use, durability, effectiveness and are competitively priced.
If you or someone you know is finding regular day to day tasks a challenge, we have a solution.
